General Medicine and its Relationship to Optometry
A one-day interactive course providing an overview of common systemic diseases such as hypertension, arthritis and diabetes. The course will help you understand the relevance of systemic disease to optometry and the importance of good inter-professional communication with the GP.
Courses to be run in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Aberdeen in Autumn 2010.

First Aid and Resuscitation Skills
A one-day first aid course covering situations likely to be encountered by an optometrist including fainting fits, heart attack and stroke. The course results in HSE-approved Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
This course is open to all practice staff and will be available from May 2010.

Record Keeping in Compliance with the GOS Regulations
A full day of lectures and interactive seminars covering all aspects of record keeping and the requirements of the General Ophthalmic Services regulations. Yu will discuss examples of good and bad record keeping records with your peers and practise your history & symptoms interview techniques on patients.
